What to Do When you Feel Defeated

We have all had days... weeks, some of you may have even months or years when you feel completely defeated, depleted, drained, not knowing what to do next or where to turn. THESE are the pivotal moments; the moments that will define and determine our future. I have never met a person who has achieved success who has not first failed... several times in fact. The one who fails most yet keeps going wins the biggest. A person's drive, ambition and determination must be bigger than their failures, they must be paramount to their obstacles. THAT is the mindset that changes the moment, and the actions that come from that moment will affect the outcome.

People who do not know me well may assume that I never feel defeated, mainly because I seem like the energizer bunny that never runs out of battery smiling from ear to ear most of the time, but I have broken down more times than I can count. I have run marathons on a rat wheel feeling like it would never stop and if it did I would likely fly across the room and hit a brick wall head on. What made the difference for me is that my dreams were bigger, my desire was paramount and my reasons for wanting to achieve grow as I continue through life. I don't know why I am wired like this, and quite frankly, as odd as it may sound it's both exhausting and exhilarating doing all that I do making me wish at times that I were more common; I never will be.

When you have a passion for something... mine happens to be helping others in whatever way that I can... it drives you whether you are holding the wheel or not. What I have learned is that only about 2% of the population are like this so if I could bottle these traits and sell them on Amazon I figure I would be a gagillionaire. (It's a word in my dictionary) Since I cannot bottle it, or squeeze it into people by syringe, I will continue to inspire people through my blogs, my books, social media pages and do what other great leaders before me have done... I feel that I am meant for more, I have a purpose and it drives me to do all that I do. I choose to lead by example.

I may not be a millionaire yet... but I am hopeful that it is in my future to be one. The burning desire to be something extraordinary is not for the wealth I may gain but because of what I will be able to GIVE when it happens, and I honestly cannot wait.

I had a hard time tonight trying to come up with a blog topic so I just started typing... this is what came to mind and I have decided to end it with an excerpt from the new book I am writing, and I hope that it is something that will inspire you to never quit.

There is nothing more worth it than the act of perseverance...

It's the elderly couple who have been together for 50 years that still hold hands and look at each other with loving eyes; they know what they had to go through to get this far. It's the woman holding her brand new baby, totally exhausted after being in labor for 24 hours feeling happier than she has ever been in her life.
It's the man who stands atop the mountaintop with tears of joy in his eyes, hands sore, knees scraped and muscles defeated, looking down in disbelief at the climb he just made. It's the person who had a dream to be something one day who is now living that dream yet will never forget the journey, the sacrifices and the moments they wanted to give up.

So often, we let go... we throw in the towel when things seem too hard. Most people are more willing to never know what it's like to succeed than they are to do what it takes to make their dreams come true, to make their marriages last, or to divide and conquer so that they will have an inspirational story to tell.

I challenge you today to NEVER GIVE UP.. to persevere and continue on with what you are trying to accomplish until it happens. You have nothing to lose and your dreams to gain.

If you are failing at nothing... you are not opening your mind, your life, or your heart to experience new things. With everything new comes failure, with failure, comes success and lessons of what not to do again. If you want your happy ending.... you must pursue it with intensity because only YOU can make it happen. ©shelleygiard

Let Change, Passion and Purpose Redefine Your Life

I have had an incredible two days! There is something special... TRULY special about being surrounded by a room filled with motivated, hopeful, driven, passionate people who have a common goal of helping and serving others; who have a solid mission to build people up and develop them into the best they can be. Unless you have experienced this for yourself, it is quite difficult to explain the euphoria that happens, the tornado of change and self improvement that engulfs the room. I am going to attempt through words, to paint a picture of what this is like for you because I think that EVERYONE needs to know how this feels, that everyone needs this in a world that focuses everything on the negative. My hope is that through it, you can catch a glimmer of hope, hope for a second chance, a new beginning, a change in your reality that only YOU can manifest and create.

As you read, I want you to open your mind wide and allow yourself to imagine what I am describing, absorb it, allow it to surround you like a warm, fuzzy blanket if only for a moment, I want you to feel safe and protected and know that everything is going to be okay no matter what you are facing in life right now. Okay, so here it goes....

Imagine yourself walking into a room filled with people in an environment that you have never been in before, some of  the people you know but most whose path you have never crossed. You are scared, a bit intimidated even, but you are there anyway. As you walk by each row of chairs and make eye contact with others, people smile at you and say hello, several shake your hand or give you a high five just for showing up. As each person smiles you begin to "feel" the energy in the room and begin to think that although you are not quite sure what you have walked into.... it feels pretty god and is certainly a far cry from what you are used to 90% of the time. You take your seat and prepare for the day... a day that you have been told will be filled with motivating, inspirational leaders telling YOU how to WIN for you and your family in this crazy game of life.

You quickly notice that this is different than any social event you have ever attended and realize that the people speaking are not people that are hired to speak and "fluff" something up for you, they are TRUE leaders, true educators, comrades that have DONE what they are asking you to do, they have put in the time, gone through the hardships, made the mistakes and tell you everything you DON'T want to hear so that you can truly grow into the best you. It gets a little uncomfortable at times when you feel like they are talking directly to you, in fact you get a bit squirmy and have a feeling of nausea in your gut, but for some crazy reason you know that it is a good thing to feel this way.

As the day goes on, it is time for recognition... your name gets called out and as you stand and walk to the front the entire room stands to cheer for you, hands blanket the isle as you walk the path to the front. You are surprised that you are being celebrated by people you know, but by complete strangers? You get to the front and are given the chance to talk about why you are here, why you are being awarded and are asked to share what you do to achieve these goals and what advice you can offer for those who want to accomplish what you have. YOU... someone who when you walked into this room felt intimidated and scared are being called courageous. You give your 2 minute speech and return to your seat....

How do you feel right now? Read it again if you feel nothing and OPEN YOUR MIND so that you can feel the moments that I have described. Are you recognized and celebrated for all your hard work and then some? Would you like to be? Have you ever been given the chance to tell your story? Would you like a chance to talk about your struggles and how you pushed on? Well... I can introduce you to an environment that will give all of this to you... it's all of that and more. It is an environment that will build you, make you strong and ultimately make you free of all worry if you make the choice to accept the challenge. I know... it sounds nuts, and that is because it is so far from what most of you live every single day. I will tell you this... feeling great and being called nuts feels way better than being stressed, wouldn't you agree?

If you stay where you are... if you keep doing what you have been doing, will it lead you to the life that you want? Will you be able to do all that you hope to do for your children, for your spouse, your mom, dad? If not... then I encourage you to make a change. Sure, it is uncomfortable... but so is childbirth yet it yields the most amazing miracle known to humanity. You MUST get uncomfortable to experience greatness, to become all that our Creator wants us to be. So suck it up and be uncomfortable will ya?

Take the challenge, let change, passion and purpose ring in your life, your heart and in your mind. You become who you hang around, so ask yourself... who are you surrounded by? To quote one of the leaders who spoke today....

"The mind is a parachute... it only works when it is open.  Assad Faraj

Success is not going to find you, it is not going to attack you... you will NEVER read in the paper or hear on CNN that success just tackled someone to the ground and beat them up. So why not Ddesign, architect and fall in love with your goals and dreams and pursue that dream life." Ed Ortiz

If you want to succeed, you have to open your mind to new things, new concepts and change what is not working. Simple as that. Now... what are you going to do to change your situation? If you want to know where to start email me. I will be happy to help you with your journey to a better life... it's what I do. I am in the business of developing people into all that they can be and it won't cost you a single penny.

Overcoming Obstacles...YOU CAN!

Today, as I sip my morning coffee, staring out the front bay window of my Aunt's home, I am smiling inside, for I have survived yet another few whirlwind weeks. Let's see... Abrielle was in the hospital for three days with double pneumonia. Due to the high pollen count... my two youngest and I are suffering terribly with seasonal allergies. As soon as she got out of the hospital, I was knocked down for the count for a few days with what they said was allergy related bronchitis; all in the last week of school; such timing. I was working hard with my financial business trying to gain a promotion that meant a nice big raise in commission, so I worked around the clock... set goals, met with families in the late hours of the evening and intertwined my other career in between it all, but I did it... I promoted in the last hour of June and promoted to Distict Manager which allowed me to check off another goal just before my business trip to Boston this week.

I am relentless, determined, and very different, but nevertheless, I am me; constantly setting heights and going after them often wondering why others don't do the same. Although I get tired, it is SO much fun and what a rush to push yourself beyond limits to achieve your dreams! I don't know what else to do with my time, it is how I am wired.

The first few days of July were peaceful, I forced myself to rest a bit, but allergies struck again and I started coughing. Worried that I was leaving on the 7th for a 4 day business trip to do hair, makeup and wardrobe styling for White Mountain Shoes Fall/Winter catalog, I decided to go to an urgent care last Saturday when it got worse. I was diagnosed with allergy induced bronchitis again and was dosed up with meds to help me breathe better. I began to feel better on Sunday but on Monday as I was taxiing the runway I received a phone call from the doctor saying that my x-rays were read by a radiologist and that I was walking around with pneumonia. I chuckled because I felt better, and knowing I had two long days of work, I was going to have to beat this. So I put my mind into high positive gear and thought about being better, not about my diagnosis.

I made it through... I kept my mind right and luckily, with meds, prayer and mindset, I manifested what I needed to make it.

Now, I did not tell you all of that for any other reason than this. In life, we are thrown things that try to stop us in our tracks... when this happens, we have two choices; give up or push on. Most people give up but winners push on. People around us may think we are insane; we probably are a bit... but there is a fine line between insanity and success and I will take my chances every time. Winners NEVER quit, instead they program their minds to only one setting... and that is the "secret" they possess. I am walking, living proof that you can do anything you set your mind to. I have had more obstacles, boulders and mishaps than many people that I know but what I possess that you may not is a willingness to do it no matter what it takes, to keep going when I have nothing left and to get back up every time I fall and simply hit my reset button to start again. If you want something bad enough, you will attain it if you JUST DO IT.

Today is my last morning in the crisp summer air of my home state of Massacusetts, and I have had a wonderful time working, seeing family and just relaxing a bit. I am looking forward to seeing my family in Florida, sleeping in my bed, and even cleaning my house. I truly love my life, I am thankful for everything in it... my pursuit continues to make all of it even better because there's always room to grow. I doubt I will ever be complacent, but that does not mean I am not content... there is a difference.

Whatever things you may be facing... whatever obstacles or emotions are erupting, just keep going my friend. Manifest what's inside of you that will push you through; for life was never promised to be easy but nothing attained easily is ever worth the same weight of something that you work really hard for and be proud of.

Despite what some people may think, there is nothing narcissistic about loving who you are, being proud of what you have become and overcome, who you plan to be and wanting to share it all with others so that you may inspire them and motivate them to be all that they can be. That is why I share, it's not for glory so don't ever think that is my motive. In fact, lifting others up, inspiring them, encouraging them, sharing our stories, learning to be raw, real and proud...is something to be spoken of and those who do it should be celebrated. Without inspiration, we would never look forward to anything, we would never have hope; I cannot imagine that life. A victory no matter how small or how big... it is still a victory, so celebrate each and every one.

FAMILY TIME IS THE BEST TIME
